An Art Selection Committee, working on behalf of the Town
of Normal, announces that they are seeking submissions
of original artwork for the Multimodal Transportation
Center and Town of Normal municipal offices public spaces

Submitting artists must reside in McLean County.  This committee of working artists will serve to select works for purchase.  The committee includes Doug Johnson, Executive Director of the McLean County Arts Center; Natalie Goken Wetzel, co-owner of the Pod; and Slate Grove, MFA candidate in Glass at Illinois State University.

The Multimodal Transportation Center, a new construction, is the centerpiece of the Town of Normal’s Uptown Plan. As designed the Transportation Center is 68,000 square foot four-story structure with an attached parking structure. The first floor of the facility will accommodate Amtrak and BNPTS ticketing and office space, waiting areas, a food court, retail, and general community information.  The second and third floors will accommodate Town of Normal municipal offices. The fourth floor includes public meeting space and the Town Council chambers for the Town of Normal.

The facility will bring together and streamline several modes of transportation including high-speed passenger rail, intercity and local bus service, airport shuttles, taxi services, passenger vehicles and pedestrians. This program has an approximate $100,000 budget.

Deadline for submissions of digital images for the initial review is March 2, 2012.

Artists will be asked to submit all proposals digitally.  The submissions are to include three images that are actual ,or representative of works, that are available for purchase.   The committee will make an initial selection of artists that will be considered for the second round of the selection process and studio visits will be scheduled.

Artists may submit no more than three digital images.  Each digital image should be no larger than 3mg and 1000 pixels in any direction.

Each image file needs to be re-named with the artist's first initial and last name and a numerical number 1 to 3.  For example, if your name is Pablo Picasso, your first submitted digital image would be labled: "ppicasso1"


Again, Artists may only submit three images.
