Whether it be jewelry, furniture or accessories for the home Dennis French’s work has long been influenced by his love of the Asian aesthetic. This retrospective exhibition features photographs from over five trips to Asia spanning thirty years. The photographs become an informing link to the more than twenty pieces of work in the exhibition that date from 1985 to 2005.

Dennis French is Associate Professor in the School of Art at Illinois State University. French received his BFA from Arizona State University and MFA in jewelry/metalsmithing from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Most of his studio time is devoted to private commissions. Recently French exhibited at Washington University Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri and his work is represented in many private collections around the country. In addition to his continuing studio practices, French’s scholarly research explores the relationships between the Wiener Secession, Charles Rennie Macintosh and the Glasgow School of Art, and the Art Commune Mathildenhohe in Darmstadt, Germany.
