FUNCTION features twelve regional artists working in ceramics, fiber, glass, metals, and wood: Cat Chow, Harris Deller, David Griffin, Timothy Lloyd, Aaron Macsai, Alan Mette, John Miller, Don Pilcher, Ann Coddington Rast, Jonathan Rutledge, R. Thomas Tedrowe, and Leah Woods.

The exhibition explores the interesting intersection of function and sculpture. Initially the artworks translate as functional or decorative objects (a cabinet, a vessel, a piece of jewelry) hand made by highly skilled artists. These artists employ difficult techniques and processes to explore traditional and natural materials. Further, the artists integrate applied and fine arts, for instance by playfully subverting the functional practicality, by focusing on abstraction or the conceptual, or by introducing unexpected scale and materials, to produce artworks that are less about function and more sculptural.
