The exhibition, Strange Birds and Other Fauna: Chris Berti, will be on view in the McLean County Arts Center’s Armstrong Gallery from December 18, 2009 through February 6, 2010. Please join us for a reception for the artist on Friday, January 15, 5pm to 7pm.Chris Berti lives in Urbana, Illinois. He is Associate Professor of Art at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. He received his BFA in ceramics from Alfred University and his MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art. For the MCAC exhibition, Berti will be showing new ceramic sculptures and new works carved from found stone, ceramic drainage tiles, antique bricks, and wood. These to-scale works depict everyday objects and animals. Small, familiar things you’d want to hold in your hand. Berti’s honest style and caring touch grant these solid sculptures an uncanny aliveness. |
