New Paintings by Hua Nian will be on view in the McLean County Arts Center’s Armstrong Gallery from February 19 through April 10, 2010.   Opening reception for the artist on Friday, February 19, 5pm to 7pm.    

Using acrylic paint and canvas, Hua Nian makes abstract paintings that make reference to images and marks found in primitive art and archaeological excavations.  She integrates these abstract images with an intuitive handling of color to create remarkably nuanced and balanced compositions. 

Hua Nian lives in Urbana, Illinois.  She has been actively making and exhibiting her paintings since 1996.  Her work has been exhibited in solo, group, and juried shows throughout the United States and has she has won numerous awards at arts festivals in Illinois.
