Kaminski’s Predator/Prey/Scavenger Project
A new installation by Katherine Kaminski is on view in the McLean County Arts Center’s Armstrong Gallery through June 12, 2010. Please join us for a reception for the artist on Friday, May 7, 5pm to 7pm.
Katherine Kaminski lives in Washington, Illinois. She received a BA from Western Illinois University and a MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her work is inspired by the rural environment that has surrounded her most of her life. Her active imagination and inventive use of materials and techniques combine to create a dynamically imagined atmosphere in the Predator/Prey/Scavenger Project – Phase 2.
Kaminski describes the Predator/Prey/Scavenger Project as “influenced by a variety of everyday remote and wild happenings, i.e. coyote chasing a rabbit, an owl hunting mice, turkey vultures gorging on a rotting carcass, a man patiently waiting for buck. I am captivated by the cycle of the hunter and the hunted; whether this relationship is between man and animal or vice a versa. With great attention and curiosity I witness and track the sequence of the predator, prey, and scavenger. With this information, I interpret events of my studies and create a macabre landscape for my story to grow.”
Kaminski’s exhibition is generously sponsored by Ron Bacon & Dee Bohbrink and Gary Hoover & Judie Bey.
