Doug Johnson, Executive Director

Doug Johnson

A Bloomington-Normal native, Doug graduated from Normal Community High School in 1983 and Illinois State University in 1987. He holds a Masters degree in Studio Art from ISU, where he was a recipient of the Elizabeth Stein Scholarship and a Friends of the Arts talent grant. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Northern Illinois University in 1992, where he was awarded Best of Show in the Student Annual exhibition. He has exhibited at Addington Gallery and the Peter Miller Gallery (both in Chicago), Illinois Wesleyan University and at the Chicago International Art Expo. His artwork has been published in Better Homes and Gardens and in the Chicago Tribune Sunday magazine. Doug has taught at Illinois State University, Northern Illinois University, Judson College, Waubonsee College, Ray College of Design, the Rockford Art Museum and Heartland Community College. He currently serves as the Chairperson for the 2011 One State Confernce on behalf of the Illinois Arts Council and Arts Alliance Illinois, the Program Committee for the Arts Alliance Illinois, he served as the 2009 One State Conference Planning Committee, the board of directors for the Bloomington Rotary and is a past board member of the McLean County Dance Association and the Heartland Jazz Orchestra and delivered the commemcement address at Lincoln College, Normal, for the class of 2009.

Alison J. Hatcher, Curator

Alison Hatcher

Alison has been Curator since 1997. She has a degree from Carleton College in Minnesota and has been involved in arts administration for 21 years. She previously worked at The Yale Center for British Art, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Harvard University Art Museums, and The Gund Collection in Cambridge, Ma.

John Disco, Education Coordinator

John

John Disco grew up in central Illinois and received his BFA from Illinois State University in 2003 and his MFA from the University of Washington in Seattle, both with an emphasis in printmaking. He comes to the art center with experience in higher education and as a practicing artist. He has also worked as a printing assistant for Manneken Press, a local fine art press. John currently resides in Bloomington where he continues to work as an artist and educator.

Robert Fifield, Preparator

Robert Fifield

Robert Fifield received his B.F.A. degree from Millikin University in 2005 focusing on painting, drawing, and printmaking. In 2008 Rob earned his M.F.A. in painting while studying at Illinois State University. In addition to working for the MCAC , Rob is a dedicated practicing painter and has worked as an adjunct professor teaching 2-dimensional foundations, drawing, and printmaking.
